SOC 417 - Contemporary Soc Theory |
Whereas classical theory emphasizes the coercive aspects of modernity (e.g., capitalist exploitation), contemporary sociological theory tends to emphasize more subtle forms of power. In this course, we will read the central proponents of this ?hearts and minds? orientation. To put into practice what you learn, you will be required to run a hearts and minds campaign of your own.
