Racism in the United States remains a topic of fierce debate today. This course places contemporary racial issues in an historical context by examining institutional racism, ethnicity, and immigration from the Civil War to today. The course specifically compares how Native Americans, African Americans, Latino/a Americans, Asian Americans, and American Muslims have shaped their own identities in the United States over time.
