SOC 411 - Sociology of Disaster
The objective of this course is to introduce students to the sociological dimension of disasters, major events which disrupt the prevailing order of society by causing injury, death, and/or property loss to large numbers of people. Possible case studies for the course include earthquakes, heat waves, hurricanse, oil spills, chemical releases, or terrorist attacks. A service project is normally required in this course. Permission of Instructor is required.
